BOX ELDER COUNTY — Firefighters are making some progress containing a wildfire burning northwest of the Great Salt Lake. The Tangent Fire has scorched 473 acres in the West Desert.
Utah Fire Info reports the fire is burning along Tangent Peak, on state, private and Bureau of Land Management – Utah lands. It was first reported Monday, July 15.
The US Forest Service said firefighters “have made progress.” Fire activity was “light to moderate” on Tuesday, with no big changes. The fire is currently at 10 percent contained.
There are currently 75 firefighters working the fire. That includes 2 helitack crews, four engines, a dozer and grader, according to Utah Fire Info.

The fire is suspected to have been sparked by lightening.
No evacuations or closures have been reported.
