LOGAN — A Cliffside Neighborhood home was almost completely destroyed by a fire Monday afternoon. The blaze was reported at 1691 Mt. Logan Drive, just after 4:50 p.m.

According to emergency radio communications at the time, multiple people called 911 reporting the home was on fire. The residents had reportedly gone back inside to try and locate pets and move vehicles away from the structure.

Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys said when firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke was coming from the attic and flames were breaching the roof.

Crews initially entered the home but then had to evacuate and shift to a defensive strategy as the fire spread rapidly.

Firefighters used a ladder truck and several hand lines to spray water on the flames.

The roof partially collapsed, explained Humphreys, requiring to firefighters to stay out of the home.

“Anytime you have the structure collapsing like it did in this case, the safety of our firefighters is a main focus,” said Humphreys.

The fire produced a thick black plume of smoke that was visible throughout the area.

Humphreys confirmed that all of the home’s occupants were accounted for and safe.

The fire appears to have been in the attic of the home. The cause remains under investigation.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes and hillsides.
