LOGAN — A father and daughter have been sentenced to prison and jail, respectively, for sexually assaulting a teenage couple 18 months ago, according to law enforcement. Billy Wayne Smith, 47, and Autumn Christina Eley, 21, are both serving sentences after accepting plea deals.

According to court records, Smith was sentenced June 17 in 1st District Court in Logan to two to 30 years in the Utah State Correctional Facility. He previously pleaded guilty to two counts of forcible sodomy and one count of object rape, all second-degree felonies.

Eley was sentenced April 1 in 1st District Court to 45 days in jail and 36 months of probation. She previously pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony.

According to prosecutors, Logan police officers responded to a sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy on Dec. 31, 2024. The girl told police she and her boyfriend had gone to a friend’s residence, a studio apartment shared by Eley and Smith.

The victims said that while they were at the apartment, Eley and Smith provided them with alcohol. The teenagers then witnessed the father and daughter go into the bathroom together to smoke methamphetamine. Afterward, the four walked to a nearby convenience store to purchase sodas, cigarettes and more alcohol.

The victims told police Smith approached each of them separately, asking if they would participate in sexual activities with him and his daughter. He also discussed other sexual topics during the walk, court documents detailed.

Once the four were back at the apartment, Smith took the teenage girl into the bathroom, where he molested and sexually assaulted her. At the same time, the teenage boy reported Eley began kissing and sexually abusing him.

The assaults continued until the teenage girl called to her boyfriend to come into the bathroom. The couple left the apartment soon after and called police, according to the charges.

Officers said the teenage girl underwent a sexual assault examination to collect DNA samples. She and the teenage boy were later interviewed at the Cache County Children’s Justice Center.

As the investigation continued, police questioned Smith and Eley at the police department. Both denied sexually assaulting the teens and said the drinks they gave the victims were apple juice and cinnamon.

On July 8, 2025, police received the results from the sexual assault examination, which showed DNA collected from the teenage girl matched Smith’s. The father and daughter were arrested weeks later.

According to court records, Smith was convicted of sexual abuse, a first-degree felony, while living in Kentucky in 2009. He remains on the sex offender registry and is prohibited from being around children.
