LOGAN — Some Cache County residents received an evacuation alert Sunday that was intended for another Utah community as wildfires continue to threaten areas across the state.
The Logan City Dispatch Center said Sunday night that an evacuation alert had reached some people in the local community but was not intended for Cache County.
“The alert was NOT intended for Cache County and is relation to the Rocky Canyon Fire and for the town of Henefer only,” the dispatch center said in an update. “You can disregard the alert.”
The incident comes as Utah residents are being encouraged to prepare their households for the possibility of wildfire evacuations, which can be ordered with little warning.
Emergency officials recommend having a grab-and-go kit with at least three days of food and water, medications, first-aid supplies, flashlights, batteries, phone chargers and other essentials.
Families should also keep important documents accessible and establish emergency meeting locations and a communication plan.
