WEST VALLEY CITY – The Utah Eagle Forum will hold its annual convention here on Friday, Jan. 11, with a host of state and federal officials scheduled to attend.
That political gathering is slated for 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the American Preparatory Academy in West Valley City.
Founded by Phyllis Schlafly in 1972, the Eagle Forum is a national organization that focuses on culture war issues including family values and conservative politics.
The group is a non-profit organization with subsidiaries in many states and is affiliated with the Eagle Forum Education and Legal Defense Fund.
Utah’s entire Republican delegation to the 119th Congress will attend Saturday’s convention, including Senators Mike Lee and John Curtis as well as Representatives Blake Moore, Burgess Owens, Celeste Maloy and Mike Kennedy.
Also attending will be Utah House Speaker Mike Schultz (R-Hooper), Senate President Stuart Adams (R-Layton), State Sen. Keven Stratton (R-Orem) and Joann Brinton from the State Board of Education.
Speakers from Utah’s conservative organizations will include Gayle Ruzicka, president of the Eagle Forum; attorney and pro-life advocate Merrilee Boyack, Walter Plumb III, president of Safe Drug Utah; and conservative business leaders Jason Walton.
The event’s keynote speakers will be historian David Barton and author Stanley Kurtz.
