RICH COUNTY — Crews are battling another wildfire in northern Utah. Fire officials estimate more than 1,140 acres are burning southwest of Randolf, near the Big Creek Road and Big Creek Canyon area.

Utah Fire Info reported the Dry Fork Fire is burning in sage, juniper, and aspen. It is reportedly on the move and is at zero percent containment.

The Rich County Sheriff’s Office said ranchers are allowed to retrieve their stock and assist others in doing the same “at their own risk.”

A deputy is reportedly working to secure a location where the animals can be loaded onto trucks and trailers.

The fire was discovered Tuesday, Aug. 6. The cause is undetermined.

Officials with the US Forest Service said early containment efforts were challenged by windy conditions, but fire behavior is beginning to moderate. Red flag conditions are predicted for today.

One state taskforce with 4 engines, a hand crew and a tender was ordered earlier, and a second taskforce order was placed which includes a dozer; expected to arrive this afternoon.

No structures are immediately threatened.

The county has implemented road closures in the area.
