Sign along Mendon Road, warning motorist of construction closure.

MENDON — Construction crews are partially closing a busy stretch of roadway for several days between Logan and Mendon. The closure is along a section of Mendon Road, from 4300 West to the railroad tracks east of Mendon City.

Roy Hathaway, ground crew lead with the Cache County Road Department, explained that the closure will be Monday through Thursday so crews are able to complete resurfacing of the asphalt. The closure will only be during the day, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Crews will be reducing traffic to just one lane and using pilot cars to guide motorists through the construction zone. They are asking drivers to consider using Valley View Highway, SR-30, to avoid lengthy delays.

Hathaway said the closure is expected to last three to four days. The road will be open during the night though, when crews are not working.

Motorists are asked to watch out for construction crews through the area and obey signs.

Hathaway said they hope to have the project done early and reopen the road before Thursday.
