LOGAN — Running for Seat 2 in the Cache County Republican Primary election is Alison Goulais. Seat 2 oversees the district comprised of the northern part of Logan. On KVNU’s For the People program last week, Goulais said she’s been hearing from voters about housing and the proliferation of multi-unit dwellings and she’s heard about recreation needs.
“It’s funny because I’ve always felt like recreation has been very important to me and I have talked to quite a few people that have also expressed the same concern, which was exciting to me because I would hate to have something on my platform that wasn’t for everyone. So, it’s been really nice to hear the feedback that that’s also something that people have concerns about,” she explained.
Water conservation also continues to be an issue, Goulais feels we need to get away from the ‘use it or lose it’ type of thinking.
“Which, for some people it makes them use it even if they don’t need it, because if they don’t use it then they’re not going to get it,” Goulais added. “But, it’s such a flawed way of thinking because it just encourages waste, basically.
“And when water is such a vital resource that we do need to be thinking about. Yes, we are fortunate in Cache Valley, it’s not as dry up here maybe as it is in other parts of the state. But it doesn’t mean it’s not still an issue for our community as well.”
Goulais said she wants to convey that voting for her is a ‘vote for you’. She said that she decided to run to help make sure the community is represented again.
