LOGAN – The Cache County Republicans will hold their County Organizing Convention on Saturday, May 3.
That political event — with credentialing beginning at 8 a.m. and convention activities starting at 10 a.m. — is slated at Green Canyon High School in North Logan.
The purpose of that gathering, according to County GOP Chair Geoff Cox, is to allow Republicans to elect new party leadership, including the chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer.
GOP loyalists will also elect chairs for the North, Northeast, Logan 1, Logan 2, Logan 3, South and Southeast districts.
County Republicans will also elect five at-large members to serve on the State Central Committee.
Any Republican who intends to run for any of the aforementioned elective posts must file a letter of intent with the current party chair no less than 10 days prior to the organizing convention.
Qualifications for would-be candidates are that they must be a U.S. citizen; a registered Republican; 18 years of age by the next general election; and reside within the geographical boundaries which the position represents by the next general election.
Cox said that all precinct officers – including chairs, vice chairs, secretaries and treasurers – should attend the organizing convention, along with ex-officio and country delegates.
Green Canyon High School is located at 2960 Wolf Pack Way in North Logan.
