HYRUM — A 2-year-old Hyrum boy was seriously injured Friday after his father accidentally backed over him with a riding lawnmower.

Logan City Police Lt. Brooks Davis said all evidence appears to show this was a tragic accident. The man was using the riding lawnmower when the boy came up behind him.

The victim was transported by paramedics to Logan Regional Hospital with severe injuries. He was later flown by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake area hospital.

Davis explained the boy suffered injuries to his lower extremities. His current condition is unknown.

Due to the father being an employee of Cache County, the Logan Police Department was dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The victim’s identity is not being released.
