BOX ELDER COUNTY — A Brigham City man who was reported missing in November 2023 was located deceased by authorities on Thursday, north of Bear Lake.
Brigham City Police Detective Crystal Beck said that Bear Lake County sheriff deputies contacted Brigham City police just after 12:45 p.m. on May 4 and said the body of missing person Paul Illum had been located.
Deputies reported that Illum’s body was found in his vehicle which was parked on private property.
Illum was initially reported missing by family members in Nov. 2023.
Beck said they worked alongside Bear Lake County deputies and Illum’s family for countless hours to bring him home, though he was never located.
Police stated that no apparent cause of death was detected and that an autopsy would be performed.
Beck said in a statement, “The Brigham City Police Department would like to offer their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Illum. We are asking that the family not be bothered during their time of grieving.”
