FORT HALL, Idaho — A 69-year-old Blackfoot, Idaho man died in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning. The accident was reported around 3:20 a.m. along Interstate-15 in Bingham County.

Idaho State Police received a call of a wrong way driver at 3:15 a.m. About five minutes later, a 36-year-old male from Fort Hall, driving a Chevy Impala, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on I-15. A 69-year-old male, from Blackfoot, driving an Oldsmobile Alero, was traveling northbound on I-15.

Near milepost 84, northeast of Fort Hall, the driver of the Impala collided with the Alero head on. The driver of the Alero succumbed to his injuries on scene and the driver of the Impala was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

Police report neither driver was wearing a seat belt.

Northbound lanes were briefly blocked for air ambulance then partially blocked until 7:00 a.m.

Idaho State Police have not released the identity of either man, pending notification of family and the investigation.
