LOGAN – On Saturday, Sept. 6, downtown Logan will be packed with thousands of cyclists and support crews for the 43rd annual LoToJa Classic, a 200-plus mile bike race from downtown Logan to Teton Village near Jackson Hole.

Cyclists from all over the United States and some foreign countries come to pit their strength and endurance on this more than 200 mile bike race.

This year’s Logan to Jackson race will start Saturday morning at 150 N. 100 E. in front of Sunrise Cyclery in Logan and the first of 23 groups of racers will begin at 5:30 a.m. The finish line will be at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Teton Village. There will be food, water and restroom stations along the route.

There will be only one road closure in Logan on Friday before they get going, said Lt. Bret Randall of the Logan City Police Department.

“First East will for be closed beginning from 100 N. to 200 N.,” he said. “It will be closed until the race begins.”

The evening before the race Firehouse Pizzeria will be serving up a Pedal Power Dinner for the cyclists on Friday before LoToJa. The dinner is sponsored by the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. It is an all-you-can-eat dinner with tickets costing $15.00 per plate.

Firehouse will offer a selection of carbo-loaded foods prepared especially for cyclists. The proceeds from the dinner will go to the Huntsman Cancer Institute for cancer research.

LoToJa began in 1983 when David Bern, a student at Utah State University, and Jeff Keller, the owner of Sunrise Cyclery, designed a race they thought would resemble the difficulty of a one-day European classic race.

The longest one-day USAC-sanctioned bicycle race in the country has grown since those early days to be one of the nation’s premier amateur cycling events and continues to be a grueling test of one’s physical and mental stamina.

Cyclists from all over the United States and some foreign countries come to conquer three mountain passes as they pass through some of the most scenic terrain of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming has to offer.

LaToJa 3

Over 1,000 cyclists will be riding the LaToJa Classic this Saturday Sept.6, 2025.

Male and female riders, from top-level amateur racers to recreational cyclists who want to cross the finish line for bragging rights.

LoToJa is a huge fundraising mechanism for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, National Ability Center, Utah High School Bicycle League, ALS Foundation, and Bike Utah.

To date, this bicycle event has contributed almost $3 million to these and other community causes from Logan to Jackson.
