Our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Beverley June Cavanaugh, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, April 28, 2022, and returned home to her loving Heavenly Father and her husband’s open arms.

She was born on June 16, 1939, to Alfred and Dorothy Geady Huffman in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. She had the privilege of living in different places throughout her life such as Brigham City, Utah; Roosevelt, Utah; Hayden Lake, Idaho; Alamogordo, New Mexico; and Port Colborne, Ontario.

Beverley married the love of her life, Ray Cavanaugh, on September 10, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married for 57 wonderful years. He passed away last year on August 26, 2021.

She received her MSW from the University of Utah and received her Bachelor of Science from BYU.

Beverley is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where serving as a Primary Teacher was her favorite calling. She served a Senior Service Mission with her husband, Ray, in India. She was also a Temple Worker in the Brigham City and Ogden Temples.

She was a social worker in official capacity as well as a volunteer throughout her life. She established Hope Through Learning, an international scholarship program for underprivileged youth. She also established multiple domestic violence programs as well as shelter bed programs. Known as Momma C, Beverley was the business owner of Cavanaugh’s Casuals Inc. and a strong advocate of board sports. One of her favorite quotes was “If you’re unhappy with your lot in life, build a service station on it.”

Beverley loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. She supported an orphanage and schools in India. She enjoyed sports—the NFL and NBA—a big Jazz Fan. She appreciated moments where she could sit back and relax and take pleasure in reading a good book. She loved animals and wildlife. She loved to sing and had a beautiful singing voice.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ray Cavanaugh.

Beverley is survived by her children: Cari Woodland (Mike), Sarah Cavanaugh, Michael Cavanaugh (Ericka), Anna Bassett (Doug), and Andrea Galbraith (Brian); brother: Alfred “Bud” Huffman; 12 grandchildren and 1great-granchild on the way.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah, with a viewing prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
