Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cade Brenchley said two large boulders became dislodged and rolled down the mountainside onto the highway, bringing with them dirt and several trees. The boulders were between 4-5 feet in diameter.

No one was hit by the falling debris. It was reported by motorists just before 7 a.m.

Brenchley said the debris blocked both lanes of the highway temporarily until crews were able to clear some of it. Traffic continued to be reduced to one lane for several hours, while UDOT workers used a bulldozer and dump truck to remove the boulders.

The highway was reported cleared just before noon.
