The Utah Department of Health’s (UDOH) week-ending COVID report Friday includes 120 new coronavirus cases while the daily total two months ago was 11,601. There were six more deaths in Utah since Thursday.

In Utah there have now been 926,442 positive cases since the start of the pandemic and 4,561 deaths, 236 in northern Utah.

In the last 28 days, people who are unvaccinated are at 5.1 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 2.1 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 1.9 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.

As of Friday there are 156 Utahns in hospitals with COVID-19, the same as on Thursday. There are 26 patients in intensive care which is three fewer than Thursday. There have been 33,793 COVID hospitalizations in Utah the last 24 months.

More than1.99 million Utahns are fully vaccinated, 61.4 percent of the population. There were 2,314 people vaccinated since Thursday and over 4.985 million vaccines have been administered since the start of the pandemic.

With 1,815 Utahns tested since Thursday more than 4.979 million people have been tested and just over 9.3 million total tests have been administered since the outbreak.

Currently 59 percent of those living in northern Utah are fully vaccinated and about 257,000 vaccine doses have been administered in the district.

The northern Utah case count has reached over 51,000 in Cache, Box Elder and Rich counties. Within the district more than 2,000 people have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.

Utah’s new rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 139 a day; it was 10,818 a day two months ago.

The new seven-day rolling average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 5.4 percent plus the rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.3 percent.

Idaho’s Friday COVID update indicates 4,834 coronavirus deaths and the new total of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 441,375 statewide, which includes 2,108 cases in Franklin County, 909 cases in Bear Lake County and 799 cases in Oneida County.
