In a grand celebration of local commerce and community spirit, the Best of Northern Utah 2024 awards have announced this year’s winners, spotlighting the pivotal role of small and medium businesses in bolstering the region’s economy. This year’s event marked a significant uptick in engagement, with over 1,500 businesses nominated and a staggering 816,000 votes cast by local residents.

The competition, which annually recognizes excellence across various sectors including dining, entertainment, retail, professional services and others, unveiled nearly 300 winners in gold and silver categories. The contest, presented by Kater Shop, not only celebrates the winners but also emphasizes the community’s commitment to supporting local enterprises.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see so many people come together to celebrate the businesses that make our community unique,” Kent Frandsen, owner of Cache Valley Media Group, exclaimed. “This event not only highlights the best of our local businesses, charities and events but also fosters a deeper connection between businesses and residents. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners who truly represent the spirit of Northern Utah.”

For the first time in the contest’s four-year history winners were invited to attend a celebratory open house at the newly-remodeled studios at the Cache Valley Media Group where they are treated to free food, photo booth, games and more.

“The Best of Northern Utah is more than an awards event; it’s a celebration of the hard work, innovation, and dedication that define our local business community,” Frandsen added. “Seeing such tremendous participation from the community truly underscores the support and loyalty that residents have for their favorite local spots.”

Businesses large and small won Gold and Silver recognitions, illustrating that local residents voted to show their appreciation for service and quality all over Northern Utah. Those businesses which won in different categories proudly display their emblems on company vehicles, in their lobbies, on signs in their windows, social media and more, further illustrating the Best of Northern Utah contest as the premier event celebrating local businesses.

The significant increase in voter participation this year—jumping to over 816,000 from last year’s 690,000—highlights a growing interest in recognizing and uplifting local businesses. “Every vote is a show of support, a personal endorsement from someone in our community. That’s what makes these awards so special,” added Frandsen.
