LOGAN – There will be plenty of familiar faces in the cast when the next “Pickleville on Tour” show comes to town in early May.

The traveling production of The Legend of El Diablo will debut here in Logan at the Ellen Eccles Theatre for two nights only, on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6.

As usual, TJ Davis – the madcap bard of the multi-talented Davis clan and the author of The Legend of El Diablo – will appear as Juandito in that production.

But wait there’s more!

Davis will also double as Juandito’s fearsome pirate brother and may even appear as his father El Diablo, a running gag from other shows. That double (or triple) casting will be a neat trick on a small budget, but the Pickleville folks are old hands at that kind of quick costume changing.

Nathan Kremin has developed a reputation for performing foreign accents in previous Pickleville shows. This time out he’ll be doing a thick dialect as a silly German dude.

Kremin has previously appeared as the Beast in Pickleville productions of Beauty and the Beast and as Wednesday’s intended in The Addams Family.

The lovely Whitney Hatch Glauser is back as the winsome pirate Clara, the object of Juandito’s obsession.

Ms. Glauser is best known as the elf Alia in multiple holiday productions of Juandito’s Christmas Carol. She has also performed as Kathy in Singin’ in the Rain and Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The too true-blue Sheriff Griff will be played by Benjamin Phillips. He performed in the ensemble with the Utah Festival & Opera and Musical Theatre back in 2005. A little more recently, he played Gaston in a production of Beauty and the Beast by the Four Seasons Company in Smithfield.

Sara Marshall White will also be joining the cast of The Legend of El Diablo.

Fresh from a marvelous appearance as Katherine in the Music Theatre West production of Newsies, she has also performed previously in the Pickleville staging of Beauty and the Beast.

Rounding out the cast will be Alec Foote, in his second appearance in a Pickleville production.

Although Christmas shows staged by the Pickleville Playhouse are a holiday tradition for many northern Utah families, The Legend of El Diablo will be the first offering by Davis and his touring show crew in the spring.

Tickets for the original musical melodrama are now on sale at www.cachearts.com

Other shows in the “Pickleville on Tour” line-up for 2023 include another Halloween Laugh-Fest in October and I Believe in Christmas in December.
