Verna Jensen, 90, passed away February 23, 2022 in her home from age related causes. Born May 20, 1931 in Paris, Idaho to Fenton Reel & Sybil Sparks Allred. She spent her childhood in Paris. Verna married Charles Reed Jensen, June 10, 1948 in the Logan Temple & graduated from Fielding High School, Class of 1949. She was involved in many civic and community capacities, a member of BPW & was Idaho State President, a member of the DUP, Mary Ann Burgoyne Camp, belonged to several book clubs & deeply loved her association with the Madd Hatters. She owned Verna’s Knit Shop, Verna & Reed owned the People’s Food Bank & afterward, Jensen’s Market. She retired from the Bear Lake County Extension Office.

Verna & Reed were able to enjoy traveling together. When he passed away, Verna continued to travel with family & friends. Interests: Utah Jazz, Reading, Knitting. Verna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings over the years, visiting teacher then ministering sister, Ward Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society President & a Stake Missionary along with Reed. They had 3 children: Crystal (Brent) Biesinger, Mike (ReeAnn) Jensen, Margo (Brent) Powelson. 8 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren & 6 additional grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren from Margo’s marriage to Brent.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, parents in law, brother & many special relatives.

Her family wants to express deep appreciation for the care she received from Dr. Lance Hansen & Staff, Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Staff & her Hospice Team, especially her nurse, Vanessa.

Donations may be made in her memory to Bear Lake Memorial Hospital.

Services are under the direction of Schwab Matthews Mortuary. Her funeral will be held in the 3rd Ward chapel, 340 N. 6th St., Montpelier, Id. March 12, 2022 at noon, with a viewing from 10 a.m.-11:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Ovid Cemetery.
