LOGAN – Utah State University is offering a training for organizations, businesses or individuals in the community who offer scholarships.

Craig Whyte is Executive Director of Student Financial Support at USU.

“There’s a lot we could cover in this training, but a few things we’ll talk about specifically are how we advertise scholarships,” Whyte says. “We’ll review some best practices in the application process, talk about selection committees and how we use documentation, about award notifications, perhaps donor engagement with thank you letters or something else that is on the philanthropic side to show donors how much we appreciate their support.”

How are scholarships advertised and awarded?

“We award scholarships and advertise scholarships through a variety of mechanisms,” he explains, “whether that’s print, digital, face-to-face communication and advertisements on the web including advertisements through high schools and other channels.”

The training is Thursday, Feb. 23 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center on campus. To register, call (435) 797-0173.
