LOGAN – “As times change, so too do the threats that face us as a community.”
That quote from the Utah State University Department of Public Safety’s home page explains why Wednesday of this week (Dec. 18) the school will conduct a drill to test USU’s alert systems and building secure procedures on the Logan campus.
At 9:30 a.m., an Aggie Alert via text and email will go to those who work or study on the Logan campus. Due to a recent system change the message will come from 89361.
To minimize inconvenience from the test, students and employees are encouraged to plan ahead. At the start of the 10-minute test all campus buildings with keycard access will be locked temporarily.
Interim director of emergency management, Scott Davis, said Aggie Alert is USU’s first line of emergency communication with the campus community.
Davis said messages during the Wednesday morning alert will indicate it is a drill, not an actual emergency.
