The Belgian extremist suspected of masterminding the deadly terror attacks in Paris last week is now dead, but authorities admit that more brutal attacks are expected not only in Paris but in other areas as well.
So what can be done to counteract what ISIS is doing? On KVNU’s For the People program Thursday, Dr. Robert Nalbandov, assistant professor of Political Science at Utah State University with an expertise in counter-terrorism, said there will likely be changes in border policies for the European Union, France and other European countries, such as Germany.
“One thing is to really continue standing on a moral ground, continue to defend the principles the country is built on,” Nalbandov said. “But at the same time we need to grow a balance between the need to protect the fundamental principles that our country is based on but also the national security.”
He said, unfortunately, both are likely to take a lot of time and money. He expects to see policies involving refugees undergo changes before long.
