LOGAN – Based on his decades of contributions to music education, Utah State University Music Professor Greg Wheeler was inducted in the Utah Music Educators Association Hall of Fame on Jan. 31.

Dr. Wheeler is the seventh USU faculty member honored by the UMEA Hall of Fame, following Max Dalby, Al Wardle, Glen Fifield, Larry G. Smith, Ralph Matesky and Leslie Timmons. Several USU alums have also earned the same recognition.

The USU Chamber Singers were also honored at this year’s UMEA convention as the collegiate choir for the state while two USU alums were recognized: Rhonda Rhodes as the Outstanding Music Educator Award winner and Rod Wayman who was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Caine College of the Arts Dean Nicholas Morrison said Wheeler’s induction recognizes his impact on music from his public school experience to his work preparing future teachers at USU.
