LOGAN – The 2025 Federal Engineer of the Year is Utah State University alumnus Major Brigham Moore who was recognized at an awards luncheon in late-February at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
This award, now in its 46th year, is the only one of its kind to solely recognize outstanding engineers employed by the federal government. It was presented by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering (Utah State, 2010) and a master’s degree in civil engineering (Alaska-Anchorage, 2014) and in 2021 earned a PhD in systems engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology. As an undergraduate he was a field technician at USU’s Water Research Laboratory.
He currently leads a team of military, U.S. and Korean civilians, and contract engineers in managing over 1,000 facilities, 284 linear miles of utilities, $1.2 billion worth of design and construction, while managing 2,400 housing units with a combined worth of $7.4 billion.
NSPE was founded in 1934 and supports over 500,000 professional engineers by fostering licensed professional engineers in service to society.
