LOGAN — A 22-year-old Nibley man has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy several times two to three years ago. Kaden S. Hawk has been in the Cache County Jail since a warrant was issued for his arrest in December 2025.
Hawk stood Monday afternoon in Logan’s First District Court. He previously accepted a plea deal for two counts of sexual abuse of a child, which were amended to second-degree felonies.
According to prosecutors, Cache County sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate a sexual assault involving a teenage boy. The victim disclosed to family members he had been molested and raped by Hawk, a relative.
The boy described how Hawk would enter his bedroom late at night and molest him while watching pornography. The incidents continued to escalate, with Hawk forcing him to engage in various sexual activities. Family members confronted Hawk, who admitted to having a problem with pornography and became remorseful and emotional, expressing regret for what had happened.
During the hearing, defense attorney Cameron Cox asked the court for concurrent sentences, explaining how Hawk was abused in multiple ways as a child. He said the horrific childhood was not an excuse but a reason the judge should consider a lenient sentence.
Hawk expressed remorse for his actions, explained how he was trying to better his life, and acknowledged the impact his crimes had on the victim. Cache County Deputy Attorney Andrew Crane said the victim had been haunted by nightmares after the incidents and continues to struggle with depression and PTSD.
During Monday’s sentencing, Judge Spencer Walsh expressed appreciation for the victim’s courage, stating that no child should have to suffer such abuse. Walsh refused to grant concurrent sentences, ordering Hawk to serve two consecutive terms of one to 15 years in prison due to the serious nature of the crimes.
Hawk was ordered to immediately begin sex offender treatment at the Utah State Correctional Facility. He was granted credit for time served and will likely be eligible for parole after December 2027.
