When the state issued its update of COVID-19 metrics this week it included the 1,504 new cases of the coronavirus reported the last seven days. In the 31 months since the beginning of the pandemic the state has seen 1,04,651 confirmed cases of the disease.

Among the 261 COVID deaths in the Bear River Health District since the start of the pandemic 134 of them occurred in Box Elder County, 123 in Cache County and three in Rich County.

Including numbers from the last week, 56,131 total positive cases have been found in the district, 40,312 of them in Cache County.

There were 59 new cases in the Bear River Health district in the last week and over 68 percent of the northern Utah population (age 5+) has received at least one dose of the vaccine while 2,299 patients in northern Utah have been hospitalized with COVID.

There have been 5,034 COVID deaths in Utah.

Included in the state’s new release Thursday, Utah’s Division of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reported 112 COVID patients in the state’s hospitals, four more than a week earlier. Included in those numbers are 14 COVID patients in intensive care. Since the start of the pandemic there have been 38,827 COVID hospitalizations in Utah.

Exactly 2,063,394 Utahns are fully vaccinated — which is almost 64 percent of the population — and 1,006,643 have received at lease one booster shot.

More than 43,000 vaccine doses were administered the last seven days to bring the total doses administered in Utah to more than 5.5 million.
