FRANKLIN COUNTY, Idaho — A 67-year-old Preston man died Tuesday from injuries he sustained last week when a pickup truck struck his mobility scooter in a crosswalk.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, on South State Street just north of West 1st Street in Preston. According to the Idaho State Police, a 62-year-old man from Nibley was driving a 2003 pickup truck southbound when he hit the victim, who was navigating the crosswalk on his mobility scooter.
Emergency responders transported the 67-year-old by ground ambulance to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 3. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the men involved.
The collision blocked the southbound lanes of State Street for about three hours while emergency crews and law enforcement secured and investigated the scene.
The Idaho State Police is continuing its investigation into the crash, with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Preston Police Department, and Franklin County Fire and EMS.
