SALT LAKE CITY – Not to be outdone by city officials, state official of the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) have announced their own plans for a two-day closure of portions of State Road 30 west of Logan over the upcoming weekend.

The state’s scheduled closure of the thoroughfare – which is also known as Valley View Highway and 200 North – will impact through traffic between 1400 West and 1900 West from 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23.

The state closure notice was announced one day after local officials said that the Logan Landfill would be close on Saturday, Feb. 22 due to road construction on State Road 30.

The UDOT advisory states that westbound traffic should detour to the south on 1000 West to 200 South, then turn west until reaching 1900 West, then go north to return to State Road 30.

Eastbound traffic should turn south on 1900 West and follow that route to 600 South, then turn east to 1000 West and finally return to State 30.

State officials also advise that the water will be shut off temporarily to nearly businesses and residents during the closure period from 7 a.m. on Saturday to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

UDOT crews have been working on State 30 west of Logan to improve safety and address traffic congestion since early August of 2024 and that project is expected to continue until late in the current year.

Improvements to that thoroughfare will include additional travel lanes and widened shoulders as well as bike and pedestrian amenities.

The construction project is taking place between 1000 West (aka State Road 252) and 6000 West (aka State Road 23).
