BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Two people were hospitalized Tuesday, including one who had to be cut from a vehicle, following a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 30 near Beaver Dam, authorities said.

According to the Garland Fire Department, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:42 p.m. after Box Elder County Communications received reports of a rollover crash with critical injuries. Upon arrival, first responders found two heavily damaged vehicles, with one occupant pinned inside.

Firefighters performed a complex heavy extrication to free the trapped individual. Following extrication and immediate emergency medical care, the patient was transported by a medical helicopter to a trauma center. A second patient was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The emergency response required coordination among multiple regional public safety agencies. Crews with Engine 241 from the Garland Fire Department responded alongside Fielding Fire/EMS, Intermountain Flight & Ambulance Services, the Utah Highway Patrol, and the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement personnel assisted with scene security and traffic management while medical teams focused on extrication and patient care.

The cause of the head-on collision remains under investigation by law enforcement. Authorities have not released the names or updated medical conditions of the individuals involved.
