LOGAN — A trial has been set for a 57-year-old North Logan accused of molesting two neighbor girls last summer. The five day jury trial for Glen Richard Walker will begin Sept. 18.
Walker participated in a pretrial conference Monday afternoon in 1st District Court. He was previously charged with one count of sodomy on a child, seven counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies; and lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor.
Cache County Deputy Attorney Joshua Nemeth asked the court to schedule the jury trial and move the case along. He claimed Walker’s case appeared to be stalled and the alleged victims have had to put their lives on hold for the past nine months.
Since Walker’s arrest in June 2022, there have been nine various court hearings. Each have been continued or postponed by defense attorney Ray Malouf.
Judge Angela Fonnesbeck agreed with Nemeth and scheduled the jury trial.
According to prosecutors, North Park Police officers report the two alleged victims, aged 5 and 7-years-old, claimed their neighbor had touched them inappropriately. The older girl also told investigators that Walker had attempted to rape her.
The girls were interviewed by officials at the Children’s Justice Center as part of the investigation. They provided additional details about the incidents.
Police also report that Walker admitted to touching the older girl, when confronted by the alleged victim’s father.
Walker remains out of jail on $20,000 bail. He has pleaded “not guilty” to the charges and could face up to life in prison, if convicted.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
