LOGAN – If someone is looking for post-election entertainment, look no further than a night at the Logan Country Club.

The Cache Valley Humanitarian Center (CVHC) is holding a Friend-Raising event at the Logan Country Club on Friday, Nov. 8 from 6 until 9 p.m.
The popular local blues group Blue Blazers is slated to offer musical entertainment for the evening. The menu will be New Orleans Cajun themed. Tickets for the event will cost $60 and will include two drink tickets. Please register by Nov. 1.
Dwight Whittaker, executive director of CVHC, is promoting this event as a “Friend Raiser.”
“Our main purpose is to acquaint more people with the CVHC and the service to Cache Valley that we are providing to those in need, while providing a nice relaxing evening out, with great food and wonderful music, after the elections are over,” he said. “As you can see from the reasonable price of the tickets, we hope to cover the cost of the meal and have some left over to cover some of our expenses for the several kit supplies, utilities and insurance. There are no paid employees, 100% volunteers.”

The CVHC has become the hub in the valley for humanitarian service. They have collected the contents for and distributed over 1,237 school backpacks and hygiene kits. The organization of volunteers has assembled 281 sleeping mats from plastic garbage bags as well as 5,622 coats and quilts.
The organization has collected, cleaned and sorted over 5,000 books and given them to Centro de Familia, Bear River Head Start and the Halchita Native American Library.
They have recorded 16,000 volunteer hours and calculated they have benefited 8,000 people. CVHC currently is temporarily housed at 595 South Riverwoods Parkway Suite 130. They can be contacted by going to cvhumanitariancenter@gamail.com.
