BOX ELDER COUNTY — A 51-year-old Bothwell man died in an ATV crash Monday afternoon. The accident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. in Dove Creek, about 15 miles south of the Utah/Idaho border.
Box Elder County Chief Deputy Sheriff Cade Palmer said a group of hunters observed a cloud of dust in the area and ultimately discovered an overturned three-wheeler and the deceased driver. They were able to contact 911, requesting emergency personnel.
The victim was later identified as Eric Edwards.
According to emergency radio communications, Edwards was bleeding from the head and already deceased when found at the crash site. The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office, Utah Highway Patrol, and Park Valley EMS all responded to the scene.
Palmer said a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is being conducted. Deputies urge everyone to exercise caution and prioritize safety when operating recreational vehicles.
Edwards’ death comes a month after a similar UTV crash in Thatcher killed a 28-year-old Tremonton man. Colton Naef was heading down a dirt road that crosses State Route 102 but “failed to yield the right of way” to a Chevy truck pulling a flatbed trailer, the UHP reported.
