PARIS, Idaho — A teenager was rescued and airlifted to a hospital Sunday after falling approximately 50 feet into the Paris Ice Caves.
The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency crews responded to the cavern following a call for help. A multi-agency team, including local medics, the Idaho State Police and the Bear Lake County Fire Department, worked together to successfully extract the teen from the deep cave.
Following the complex rescue, a medical helicopter transported the victim to an area hospital. Authorities confirmed the teenager’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
The identity of the teenager was not released.
The sheriff’s office publicly thanked the various responding first responders and the community volunteers who rushed to the remote scene to assist with the difficult extraction.
