The Utah Department of Health and Human Services regularly issues a respiratory disease surveillance overview. Data are updated weekly.

Recent surveys indicate both COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV) activity has been decreasing recently. Also flu activity has been decreasing in Utah but the flu virus continues to circulate in the community and it is not too late to get a flu vaccine.

In the most recent news from the state, Utah reported 24 new COVID-19 hospitalizations. Three new COVID deaths were also reported during that time.

The seven-day average of people in the hospital with COVID was 19 while the seven-day average of cases in the ICU was 4.1. During that same time period less than one percent of the emergency department visits were diagnosed with COVID-19.

Currently 34 municipal wastewater facilities in Utah — covering about 88 percent of the state’s population — sample wastewater facilities twice a week, checking levels of SARS-CoV-2. Of the 34 sites in the last survey, 31 report COVID levels are low.
