LOGAN — A two-vehicle crash snarled traffic in downtown Logan on Monday afternoon, Feb. 26. The accident was reported just after 3 p.m. at 100 E. Center Street.
Logan City Police Lt. Barry Parslow said a semi-truck was travelling northbound on 100 East, attempting to turn right onto Center Street. The truck was hauling two trailers and heading toward the nearby grain mill.
As the semi was making its wide turn, a red Toyota Tacoma came up alongside it in the right turn lane, and also attempted to turn onto Center Street. The semi-trailer pushed the Toyota off the road and into a crosswalk pole.
Parslow said no one was injured but the crash partially blocked the intersection for over an hour while emergency crews investigated.
The Toyota sustained substantial damage and had to be towed from the scene. The crosswalk pole will be inoperable until it can be repaired by the Logan City Street Department.
Parslow said the crash is a reminder that semis need extra room when making tight turns.
