LOGAN — Traffic through Sardine Canyon was temporarily detoured after a truck caught fire near the summit Tuesday afternoon. The truck was travelling northbound when it overheated around 3 p.m.

According to emergency radio traffic, the truck was hauling two 50 gallon barrels of flammable material.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers closed the canyon in both directions as a precaution until fire fighters were able to arrive on scene and extinguish the blaze.

There were no reports of any injuries and traffic resumed within 30 minutes.
