Robert “Keith” Shaw Jr, peacefully passed away March 3, 2024 in Logan, Utah.

Keith was born September 19, 1952 to Robert and Mary Lou Shaw. From the beginning of life Keith had a calm demeanor, showing understanding and appreciation to those involved in his life. These valuable traits remained with him throughout his life.

Keith grew up in Sacramento, California where he enjoyed camping, fishing, exploring, clamming, and hiking, including climbing to the top of Mt Whitney. In high school he played football, and attended early morning seminary. He took part in plays, dance festivals, roadshows, and scouting.

After his mission to the Eastern States, Keith enrolled at Utah State University, graduating in American Studies. While attending college he met his Eternal Companion, Sandy Lee Smith. They were married February 14, 1976 in the Manti Utah Temple.

Keith had a talent for landscaping. He worked for various landscaping companies and then established his own business, Springcolor Systems where he specialized in sprinkler system installation. Later, he worked as a Probation Officer at Juvenile Court and used landscaping work as an incentive activity. He excelled at this job and had an impact on many youth, and helped them be more successful in their lives. Keith was a father figure to many, not just his own children. Keith also spent time with Utah Conservation Corps, and Bear River Basin Corps, and focused on building and maintaining trails and conservation.

He delighted in bringing people together and was quite the party-planner. Keith hosted epic family reunions packed with live bands, roadshows, long-distance bike rides, poetry readings, big bon-fires, and boating. Everyone wanted to be a part of Keiths get-togethers knowing that it would be a good time.

Keith lived a Christ-like life. One of his greatest attributes was the capacity he had to love. He had a unique ability to accept you as you are. When you were with Keith, you never questioned your value. He did not hesitate to tell people he appreciated them, and that they mattered. Simply by just being you, you knew he loved you and he was proud of you.

Keith courageously fought against the neurodegenerative diseases of Parkinson’s and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Amidst the difficult times he remained kind and steadfast, gaining the respect of all who cared for him over the years.

He was a loyal husband to Sandy Shaw and a devoted father to Riley Shaw, Ryan (Sarah) Shaw, Shelsie (Cody) Allen, Reagan (Melissa) Shaw, and Randon Shaw. His 13 grandchildren were rays of sunshine in his life. He was a loving brother to Gayle (Ron) Soren, Scott (Julia) Shaw, Holly Shaw, and Mike (Margo) Shaw.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Lou Shaw.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation from 10:30-11:30 on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the LDS Central Park Ward Building 94 W 600 S in Logan, Utah.

The celebration of Keith’s life will follow at 12:00, at the same location.
