August 27, 1940 – March 28, 2023 (age 82)

Richard Wesley Waters passed away on March 28, 2023 in his home with his family at his side. Richard was a long time resident of Cache Valley, Utah where he moved with his first wife Connie Hancock McFarland. Together they raised three daughters Gerri Waters Scholdei, Sarah Waters McCutchen, and Nancy Waters Rumsey.

Richard graduated at the top of his class in accounting and later became a partner with the accounting firm Hancey Jones Waters and Wright. He also owned the Coca-Cola bottling company in Logan and subsequently started his own accounting firm Richard Waters and Associates. Richard and Connie proudly built Stillwater Farms a successful Paint and Quarter Horse business located in Smithfield Canyon. He loved wide open spaces, western art, good cowboy boots, and horses. Richard believed in Murphy’s Law and that most elements of the spirit could be cured by “just going fishing”. He was a generous loving man who spoke his mind even if it sometimes offended those around him. We will miss his quick, witty sense of humor and colorful quotes to live by.

He will be remembered by his wife Shirley Rae Taylor, ex-wife Connie and his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and extended family. Richard was born and raised in Idaho and requested that his ashes be returned near Yellowstone and that there be no funeral services. Rest in peace and be happy Dad, we love you.
