LOGAN – One of the highlights of the upcoming holiday season at the Ellen Eccles Theatre will be “A Kurt Bestor Christmas,” presented by Minky Couture.

That event is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Bestor is an American keyboardist and composer whose specialty is new-age, orchestral arrangements, film scores and jazz. But the Utah-based musician is best-known for his instrumental Christmas arrangements.

Organizers of the appearance by the Emmy-winning composer promise that “A Kurt Bestor Christmas” will impart the joyful holiday spirit to local residents and their families with traditional favorites and Bestor’s trademark original music.

Bestor launched his career writing music for television and movies, including more than 40 film scores and an additional more than 40 themes for national television programs and commercials.

Bestor is renowned for his innovative interpretation of seasonal carols found in his popular 5 CD boxed set “The Complete Kurt Bestor Christmas,” and his haunting “Prayer of the Children,” a musical prayer for peace.

Bestor also scored the familiar introductory themes for NLF Monday Night Football and the National Geographic Explorer series, along with Wild Life Adventures on TBS and the IMAX film “The Great American West.”

Here in Logan, Bestor will perform with a live band and a string section. Combined with Bestor’s inimitable stage presence, that ensemble will bring the magic of the holiday season to the heart of Cache Valley.
