LOGAN – The local public is being invited to meet with community leaders on Thursday, Oct. 17 to discuss local water issues.

That event – dubbed “What’s the Deal with Water in Cache Valley” – will take place at the Logan Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The gathering is being sponsored by the Cache Community Conversations, a group of local concerned citizens.

The topics that will be explored during this free event will include the future of water, the place of agriculture and growth in the Bear River Basin and its connection to the Great Salt Lake.

The speakers for this event will be Nathan Daugs, a farmer and manager of the Cache Valley Water District; Barbara Tidwell, a Republican member of the Cache County Council representing Logan Seat 2; Patrick Belmont, an unaffiliated candidate running for election to Utah House District 3 and a water scientist at Utah State University; and, ValJay Rigby, a fifth generation farmer and president of the Utah Farm Bureau.

As water resources face increasing strain, the panelists will discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding water use, protecting our agricultural heritage and managing a growing population. They will also explore the roles of local and state policymakers, as well as what it all means for the future of our community.

Local residents interested in attending this event are requested to reserve their space by going online to www.bit.ly/cacheconvo
