BOX ELDER COUNTY — Law enforcement has released the identity of the woman whose body was found in Box Elder Creek on Tuesday morning. Fanny Escalona-De Angola, a 61-year-old Brigham City resident, was found unresponsive by police.
According to a press release on Wednesday, detectives are continuing their investigation into how Escalona-De Angola ended up in the creek, along with determining the cause of her death. They are asking anyone who might have had contact with the woman to contact law enforcement.
Brigham City Police Detective Crystal Beck said officers responded to a residence just after 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 after a 911 call reported Escalona-De Angola missing.
Police arrived at the home and confirmed the woman was missing. Officers searched the area and eventually found her unresponsive in the river.
First responders transported Escalona-De Angola to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident or who may have seen Escalona-De Angola between 9 p.m. on Feb. 26 and 9 a.m. on Feb. 27 to call Brigham City Police Department at 435-734-6650 or Box Elder Communication Center at 435-734-6890.
