LOGAN — A 26-year-old Utah State University student and member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity has been arrested on charges of molesting a female student.

Ryan Wray was arrested Tuesday on an initial offence of forcible sex abuse, a second-degree felony. He was booked into the Cache County Jail and later released after posting $10,000 bail.

Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said officers began an investigation after several female students reported being sexually assaulted by Wray, while attending parties at the fraternity house, 757 East 700 North.

In each case, the girls reported being drunk at the time of the assaults and were supposedly being cared for by Wray.

Budge said because most of the victims interviewed by officers were reportedly drunk at the time of the alleged assaults, only one person has positively identified Wray as the perpetrator. The assaults are believed to have taken place over the past several months.

When officers interviewed Wray, he confessed to the assaults and also provided information on two other victims.

USU public relations director Tim Vitale said Wray is a student attending the school and the past president of the fraternity. Administrators planned to meet with him Wednesday afternoon to discuss possible disciplinary actions.

“These are serious allegations,” said Vitale. “We will follow the due process of the student code in protecting the safety of our students.”

Budge said an investigation into Wray is ongoing and formal charges are pending.
