LOGAN – Democratic congressional candidate Peter Crosby of Providence will hold a press conference at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 at Caffe Ibis in Logan.
Campaign officials say that the purpose of the press conference will be to highlight the impact of the Trump administration’s policies on small business owners and everyday Utahns.
“Many of us are feeling overwhelmed by what is happening around us and in our communities right now,” according to Crosby. “Life has become unaffordable, as healthcare costs, rents and mortgages; back to school expenses; and essentials like food and gas continue to rise.
“Our communities are hurting and our leaders have left us behind,” he added.
The owner of Caffe Ibis, Lesa Wilson, and her general manager Tom Wilson, are expected to address the public gathering about their experience as small business operators since 2025.
The candidate is also expected to release recent internal polling data that indicates that the race in Utah’s 2nd Congressional District against incumbent U.S. Rep. Blake Moore (R-1st Dist.) is becoming increasingly competitive.
The Crosby campaign has reportedly conducted eight polls in northern Utah counties since August, which have drawn the opinions of more than 2,000 respondents.
Those surveys found that more than 57 percent of registered voters in northern Utah are unhappy with Moore, the Democrat said, including more than 40 percent of Republican voters.
That polling also revealed that more than 50 percent of those voters admitted that they were unlikely to vote for the incumbent, including 28 percent of registered Republicans.
“Moore has lost the trust of voters across the district…” Crosby argued. “We can and will flip this seat, because that is the only way that we can start to fix the systemic problems that are making it impossible for us, our kids and our grandkids to have a future.”
The Caffe Ibis is located at 52 Federal Avenue in downtown Logan.
