May 19, 1952 — March 2, 2024 (age 71)

Penny Marie Stoddard Avery, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Franklin, Idaho on March 2, 2024. She was born in Ogden, Utah on May 19, 1952 to her loving parents Rule Elwin Stoddard and Dorothy Jean Anderson.

Penny’s life was marked by dedication and service. For many years, she participated in bowling leagues. She shared her skills as a Driving test administrator for 26 years—touching the lives of countless individuals who received their licenses through her guidance. Prior to this role, she spent numerous years at CVTD driving buses and dispatching with unwavering commitment. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Penny cherished every opportunity to gather everyone together for a quality time filled with laughter and love. Her warmth extended beyond blood ties as she welcomed friends into the fold with open arms, in addition to being an exceptional caregiver within her community during life’s milestones. Penny also had a special place in heart for animals especially Brandie the dog who brought so much joy into their lives and was by her side until the end.

Penny reunited with her highschool sweetheart, finding lasting love with Robert (Bob) whom she married in 1978—a union that endured until the very end. Penny and Bob had previous marriages with children, so they quickly became a blended family, raising their children together. During Penny’s final days Bob provided extraordinary care ensuring that his beloved wife was comfortable while attending to every need without hesitation or complaint.

Penny leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family. She is survived by her husband: Robert D. Avery; Brother-in-law: Leland Judd; Children: Heath Avery, Jared (Sheri) Avery, Melissa (Jeremy) Schenk, Chad Avery; Grandchildren, Skyler (Katilynn) Schenk, Dylan (Sara) Schenk, Brock (Madison) Schenk, Kamren (Marissa) Avery, Brayden (Willow) Avery, Brooke (Antonio) Avery, Jaci (Raul) Nevárez, Shawnee Avery, Chance Avery, Caley Avery, Kylen Hardman, Kycen Hardman; Great-Grandchildren Jaymin Sanchez, Ava Schenk, Ruger Schenk, Bastian Avery, Brylee Avery, Luna Nevárez, Rynlee Schenk, Mason Schenk, Remington Schenk, Banks Avery.
