Patricia Bonell Whitaker passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on May 8, 2022. She was born on November 23, 1943, in Waynesburg, PA, to Robet and Louise Bonnell.
Pat moved to Utah when she was 7 years old and lived at the Intermountain Indian School while her mother was a teacher there. Her summers were spent with her Uncle John and Aunt Virginia in Scottsdale, AZ. Pat spent her time going back and forth to the Navajo Reservation with her Aunt Bonnie to visit Grandma Grey Mountain. She attended multiple schools while growing up. She graduated from Wasatch Academy in 1961. She then attended Utah State University.
Pat married Robert Lee Whitaker on February 1, 1963. Together they had two sons: Jim and Mike. They were married for 58 wonderful years.
Pat was very civic minded, holding many offices and volunteering in several local schools and the Boys and Girls Club. She most enjoyed volunteering with Jan Stangler, where she read with children and shared her love of books. Pat was a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge 2919, as well as a member of the Brigham City Elks. She retired from Whitaker Construction in 2000 after 23 years with the company.
Her hobbies were crocheting, reading, making porcelain dolls, and tending to her yard. She had a spunky spirit and left a lasting impression on all those she met.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Judy Painter and the love of her life, Bob.
She is survived by her children: Jim (Ann) Whitaker, Mike (Chalet) Whitaker; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Ali’s Angels and Aegis Hospice for their compassion and loving care.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 8, 2022.
