LOGAN — A 61-year-old Paradise man has admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material after authorities discovered more than a terabyte of illicit videos on hard drives stored at his property.

Kevin Frank Ostergaard appeared Oct. 28 in 1st District Court in Logan. He pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, under a plea agreement that dismissed six remaining charges.

The investigation began Oct. 16 when an anonymous tipster contacted the Cache County Probation Unit, according to prosecutors. The caller reported finding multiple bottles of alcohol — a direct violation of Ostergaard’s probation agreement — inside an employee locker in a shop on his Mount Pisgah Road property. The informant also discovered several external hard drives, checked one and observed apparent child sexual abuse material before alerting law enforcement.

Cache County sheriff’s investigators confirmed Ostergaard had exclusively used the bottom-left locker for at least four years. Probation agents and deputies then searched the shop, seizing three external hard drives and multiple boxes of Canadian whisky, which Ostergaard’s wife acknowledged belonged to the couple.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators uncovered approximately 1.39 terabytes of data across the three devices. Most files were pornographic, including 10 distinct videos depicting children subjected to sexually explicit conduct and severe physical and sexual abuse. Investigators also found a saved browser file containing usernames and passwords under Ostergaard’s name, confirming his ownership of the media.

During an interview, Ostergaard waived his Miranda rights and admitted the locker and hard drives belonged to him. He told investigators he struggled with pornography and acknowledged that file titles showing children’s names and ages sounded familiar. Although he claimed the abuse files were created in 2024 and 2025, forensic logs showed other pornographic files were accessed as recently as Oct. 11.

Court records show Ostergaard was convicted of driving under the influence, a class B misdemeanor, on July 9, 2025. He is serving 24 months of probation after spending three months in jail. His probation terms prohibit him from possessing or consuming alcohol and drugs.

Ostergaard was released from jail pending his Jan. 6 sentencing. Under the conditions of his release, he will be placed on home confinement, required to wear an ankle monitor and barred from accessing the internet.
