LOGAN — A 32-year-old North Logan man has admitted to sexually abusing a young girl. Nyunt Lewin was arrested in 2023 following an investigation by the Logan City Police Department.
According to court records, Lewin appeared March 31 in Logan’s First District Court. He accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of a child, amended to a second-degree felony.
As part of the plea resolution, prosecutors dismissed seven remaining charges.
According to Logan City Police Lt. Derek Dickey, officers were contacted in the end of June 2023 by the victim. She described several incidences when she was molested by Lewin, who was considered to be a person of trust.
The girl explained how Lewin had threatened her at knife point if she didn’t comply during one incident. Other times he reportedly threatened her if she told her parents about what was happening.
Police determined the crimes occurred in 2020.
Lewin remains out of jail on $2,500 bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 12, and could face up to 15 years in prison.
