LOGAN – D.L. Evans Bank awarded United Way of Northern Utah $25,000 last Thursday, April 10 to help with the organization’s community programs. The bank is located at 944 S. Hwy 89.
The money was part of $279,000 in grants distributed to other community charities in the region.
David Mumm, bank V.P and branch manager and commercial loan officer, presented the check to United Way.
“D.L. Evans Bank is one of the largest and oldest full-service community banks in the region and this is our way to give back to the community,” he said. “The bank started in 1904 and today has 39 branches and seven of them are in Utah.”
The bank started in Albion, Idaho by David Lloyd Evans in 1904 and today the headquarters are in Burley, ID. The first branch in Utah was in Tremonton in 2018.
After his term of governor of Idaho, John V. Evans Sr. served as president of the bank from 1987 until his death in 2014.
“Besides the money we gave to United Way, we also gave money to CAPSA and the Cache Food Pantry,” Mumm said. “We applied for a matching fund grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank Des Moines, and they matched our contribution.”
The bank prides itself on contributing to different nonprofits in the area where their branches are locates.
“We want to thank Jimmy Birman who introduced us to the Member Impact Fund at FHLB,” he said. “Because of his efforts we were able to give a bigger contribution to our community.”
The Member Impact Fund is a matching grant program that provides funds to strengthen communities in targeted areas. The program encourages partnerships to support affordable housing or community development.
“We are thrilled to partner with D.L. Evans Bank to make a greater impact within your community,” the release said. “We excited to work with you to promote the Member Impact Service Award and the good work you are doing in your community.”
The Logan branch of D. L. Evans Bank opened in 2020 and due to COVID they weren’t able to have much of Grand Opening but Mumm said they are happy to be in Logan.
