LOGAN — A 48-year-old Nibley man has been arrested for allegedly strangling and punching his son. Anthony Albert Williams was booked Friday into the Cache County Jail.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Cache County sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the situation when the alleged victim’s mother contacted dispatch to request a welfare check. The woman reported receiving a text message indicating her son was being abused. The mother was additionally informed by another individual that Anthony had hit the boy multiple times.
A responding deputy met with the alleged victim and a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Logan High School, where they immediately observed serious injuries to the boy’s face. His left eye was bloodshot and swollen, and he complained of head and jaw pain where he was hit. The boy also reported to the SRO that he had been choked, and authorities noted bruising around his neck.
Following the evaluation at the school, the alleged victim was transported to Logan Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
Deputies later located Williams at his residence. During a subsequent interview with investigators, the Nibley man reportedly admitted to striking the boy.
At the time of his arrest, authorities also found Williams in possession of a THC vape. Williams informed law enforcement that he did not possess a medical marijuana card.
Williams made an initial appearance May 29 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was charged with aggravated child abuse, a first-degree felony, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, both class B misdemeanors.
According to court records, Williams was previously investigated for similar charges in March 2026. He is scheduled to appear again in court June 10.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
