LOGAN — A 48-year-old Newton man has admitted to several lewd acts with two young girls. Charles Allan Olson accepted a plea deal that spared him any further jail time after being previously convicted of using sticks to abuse the same young children.
According to court records, Olson appeared July 14 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He pleaded “no contest” to two counts of attempted lewdness and sexual battery, all class A misdemeanors; and two counts of attempted voyeurism of a child, a class B misdemeanor.
The plea meant Olson conceded the alleged crimes occurred without admitting guilt or offering a defense. It is still viewed as a guilty plea in court.
According to prosecutors, the victim told Cache County Sheriff’s deputies how Olson would expose himself to her. At other times, he would enter a bathroom while she was showering, to view her naked. She also reported other incidents when she and another girl were inappropriately touched by Olson.
In September 2021, Olson was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail followed by 36 months of probation, for child abuse. The victims, ages 5 through 16-years-old, told sheriff’s deputies how they were disciplined by Olson when they broke rules or when he became angry. He would use “spanking sticks” made of wood, metal, or wire. Some of the sticks had names like Old Bamboo, Sammy Kablame, White Lightning, Egg Beater and Sold Truth.
During last Monday’s court appearance, attorneys explained that in exchange for Olson’s plea to the new charges, they were recommending no additional jail time. They also proposed he pay $15,660 for the victim’s therapy.
Judge Spencer Walsh agreed with the proposal, sentencing Olson to 120 days in jail, with credit for the time already served, and the restitution amount. He also ordered the defendant to appear again in court Jan. 12, 2026, for a review hearing.
